Bipolar Disorder – Manic Depression – The Manic High

Bipolar disorder (or manic depression) is comprised of two halves. Mania is the extreme high and depression is the extreme low. As stated these are extreme mood changes, not just the normal highs and lows everyone goes through from time to time. This article shall concentrate on the mania portion. Doctors also have a diagnosis of hypomania (bipolar 2) which is a mania to a lesser extent. While experiencing hypomania a person will feel in a very happy mood all the time. Many of us would like to feel happy.

Mania can be very extreme with its highs. A person suffering from this condition (he or she will not believe they are suffering though), can become volatile fast. The highs can spiral downward if they are provoked and angered in any way. Many arrests are made when people become angered and start screaming at each other. A manic person will accelerate this into a fight and if weapons are available it can mean disaster. Control is not a strong point of manic people. On a lighter note, mania can also bring out creativity in people. There are a number of great artists, musicians, and writers in history that were diagnosed manic depressive. Many swear that their most productive periods were during episodes. Those periods unfortunately do not last though.

A person who is bipolar or there loved ones should be aware of the warning signs that could trigger an episode of mania. Getting help early in the manic stage could help keep the worst symptoms from occurring. Psychotherapy and medication are known to help the bipolar patient tremendously. What to look for:

Insomnia or not sleeping normally

Not feeling fatigued (despite no sleep)

Increased energy

Speaking more rapid that normal

Thoughts that race everywhere (rapid speech might show this)

Impulsiveness

Spending money with no regard to consequences (shopaholic)

Promiscuousness (sleeping around)

Feeling invincible (nothing can touch or stop them)

This list is by no means all inclusive. These are just guideline for which a person can follow. Your medical professional will have better information in relation to you. Everybody is an individual and will have his or her own warning signals. The afflicted and their loved ones should take notice of them and be aware of the signs. Some bipolar patients have recurring episodes throughout their lives. Medication does help to level the moods though so patients should stick with the regimen their doctor prescribes. Weight gain is listed as a side effect on many prescription medications for this illness which can scare people. Everyone is different regarding this and people should take heed. Diet and exercise goes a long way to make sure that this side effect does not take.

Bipolar Disorder Manic Depression – Important Facts to Be Aware Of

When you are being treated for bipolar disorder, the physicians in charge have to help you distinguish the beginning signs of a manic episode so that you can take care of it in a hurry. Likewise, you have to be able to tell that a depression is coming on so that you can do the right thing. If you don’t, you never know, this may be the episode in which you kill yourself.

If you are ever going to survive this disorder you suffer from, you have to be able to identify its symptoms without outside or professional help. This is critical to your treatment or ever getting better. The time will come when no one can be with you, and at that time, your knowledge of the symptoms may be what will save you.

Men usually experience mania first when they suffer from this disorder. Women on the other hand tend to sink into depression at the onset of the disease. You will do well to know which is which by identifying the symptoms of the disease early on. Once you have that in place, you may know well enough to get them the medical attention that they need.

When your bipolar disorder is just starting, the cyclic episodes of mania and depression may last for mere weeks. This is the best time to identify them and start to look for things you can do to address them. If you miss the symptoms at this time, you may grow well into adulthood, and close to destroying yourself before you discover it again.

Bipolar Disorder Depression – Does it Differ From Normal Bipolar Disorder?

If you think there’s only one form of depression or bipolar disorder, then you are dead wrong. There are various forms of depression that exist, and mostly they require different treatment methods by the professionals that handle them. In the interest of all that is legitimate, you should not try to get the medication by yourself because you could mix them up.

Many people have attempted to do this but ended up in big trouble, even worse than the original problem they are suffering from. You shouldn’t do this, if you don’t want to suffer the same fate as those people. If you suffer from bipolar depression disorder, you don’t want to be treating major depression.

When you suffer from bipolar depression disorder, you generally spend a lot of time in a sad mood that also includes irritating behavior to those around you. Things often do not get as bad as you contemplating suicide, but even that has been known to happen from time to time. That is why I don’t think it is better than bipolar disorder; it’s just another killer.

When you find that you are suddenly avoiding going to places that you used to enjoy being at the most, you may be suffering from bipolar depression disorder. You don’t know that though until you go for testing and diagnosis by a specialist. But it you don’t get the chance before you find that your way of looking at things is changing, you had better start taking things a bit more serious too.

Bipolar Disorder And Schizophrenia – Various Differences Explained

Medical professionals, for years, were under the assumption that schizophrenia and bipolar were two diseases with very comparable symptoms. German psychiatrist Eric Kraepelin said that the illnesses were very different mental disorders. Separation of the two diseases still exists even today thanks to Kraepelin.

People need to understand that these two diseases are very hard to distinguish from one another because they do have the same symptoms and signs which makes it difficult for psychiatrists not to make mistakes in diagnosis.

However, brain specialists and some psychiatrists have narrowed down the signs of both bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and are able to form a base for their diagnosis.

Bipolar vs Schizophrenia -

Bipolar people can have schizophrenia-like hallucinations or delusions. The difference between the two though is that bipolar in its form is constant or rather chronic. In schizophrenia, there are signs of depressive and manic episodes like the ones in found in bipolar disorder.

Due to their similarities, it would be difficult for a family member or non-medical professional make the distinction between the two. There have been cases where some psychiatrists have made mistakes as well. There are also cases where severe schizophrenia have resembled severe cases of the highs and lows of bipolar disorder.

Researchers have found that genetics play a major factor for both diseases. This fact means medical professionals can find a considerable difference between the two by studying patient’s genetics.

Bipolar vs Schizophrenia – Treatments for Mental Illnesses

Available today are treatments for both illnesses that can successfully help in managing bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Psychotherapy along with medications that can change the chemistry of the brain go a long way in managing the illnesses.

The medicines along with talk therapy sessions help to stabilize the functions in the brain thus lessening the signs and symptoms effects.

Note: Remember that since bipolar disorder and schizophrenia are very close together in the way they present themselves, it is not hard for even a medical professional to mistake them. Medicines given for one when the patient has the other disease will not work. This is when the patient would need to speak with the physician about the issue. If he or she is unable to speak about it, a trusting relative should.

One of the more popular drugs given to schizophrenia patients is Clorazil. It designed especially for schizophrenia and should never be given to bipolar patients. It is intended for them to get their brain functions under control.

Those who suffer from bipolar disorder are often prescribed Lithium which is a very effective drug that keeps manic episodes from reoccurrence. For those who have fast cycling bipolar illness, specialist like to give Valproic acid. This can be good for regular cycling bipolar too.

It is important that a person suffering from either these two diseases or a trusted friend or relative choose a doctor that can be entrusted to care for the patient or loved one. They must be well-recognized in the field of mental illnesses. By choosing the right doctor, the patient will get the right form of treatment necessary for their recovery and medications to help it along.

Schizophrenia and bipolar should be diagnosed as early as possible for the treatment to be more valuable.

Since these two mental diseases can cripple your life and make you an “unproductive” member of society, it is best to get treated as soon as you or someone else suspects something. If not, it will worsen over time and greatly affect how you live, work, and relate to friends, family and the outside world.

Bipolar Disorder and Manic Depression – Some Useful Hints That Many Are Not Aware Of

There are many triggers or causes of bipolar disorder and some of them you might not even think of. Your doctor should be able to help in getting a list of factors that can trigger the condition.

If you are manic-depressive and married, you can unwittingly bring a rift between your and your spouse. Unfortunately, this can also trigger off the mother of all depressions in you. It is not a secret at this time, but a marital failure is one of the most potent triggers of bipolar disorder known to man.

You may want to keep an eye on the amount of work-related stress you allow into your life. It is inevitable that you will have some emotional investment in what you do, but because it can trigger a manic episode, or even a depressive one when you suffer from bipolar disorder, you have to at least control it. Promise me you’ll try, at least.

People with a genetic vulnerability to bipolar disorder are often the ones most affected by the triggers of the condition. Other kinds of patients are susceptible too, but not quite as badly, and so you have to pay special attention to what factors you expose yourself to when you suffer from this condition.

Every woman who has kids goes through the prenatal development phase of life. When they also suffer from bipolar disorder, they may slip into either mania or depression when they get to that point of their lives, and they may not ‘slip’ out of it in a hurry. Such a trigger is inevitable, though, but you can take medication to control it.

Bipolar Disorder and Manic Depression – Noticing the Signs Can Do You a Whole World of Good

Changes in energy level might be the best way to characterize bipolar disorder in a sufferer. Also called manic-depressive illness, the condition takes you to two extremes of the same bleak rainbow. On the one side, all the excitement that you are feeling when manic causes you to be bustling and beside yourself; and on the other side of the same coin, your sadness can leave you powerless beyond understanding. This is not too difficult to observe, but it might take some patience to witness it all. You need to take note of this by all means.

Depression changes one’s energy level, and so does excitement, whether or not the impulses are pointless. Sometimes bipolar disorder might be difficult to tell in a person because when they are depressed they could feel restless and agitated the same as when they suffer from mania.

So, all the fidgety movements and pacing could point in either direction, and unless you have more information you might not be able to conclude that it is bipolar disorder that they suffer from.

Most folks feel sluggish and inactive when they are depressed, and they characterize their obsession or mania with extensive activity, which does not seem to head in any direction. That’s when they suffer from manic-depressive infirmity. If you are a very observant person, you might be able to observe these changes in their persons before too long so that you can get them help; the sufferer is not likely to be able to notice it themselves.

Bipolar Disorder and Manic Depression – Ignoring Or Being Oblivious of the Signs Can Wreak Havoc

Experiencing great fatigue is not much of a surprise when you suffer from bipolar disorder. After all you have been spending a lot of energy bumping around inanely when you were in the manic phase of the syndrome. And now that you feel down in the dumps, also pointlessly I might add, you have begun to feel the characteristic lack of energy.

Well, that’s how it is with the mental disarray, and it is going to happen again, and again, constantly getting worse, until you get yourself some medical attention.

You know that feeling of being worn out like you have been carrying a heavy burden? Of course, that very feeling. That’s bipolar disorder for you. You probably don’t even know why you are feeling so down, particularly since you were practically ecstatic only yesterday. No surprises there either. Manic-depressive people never know why it happens to them, it just does. And the only way to get rid of it is through the right medication… and that under supervision.

It is probably no news that depressed people often have difficulty thinking, culminating in poor concentration and problems with memory. What might shock you is if you saw them outside picking a fight for no apparent reason when only minutes ago they could not even get off of the bed because ‘the sky was going to fall down on us all!’ Yeah sure, that happens too, when the depression has pushed the sufferer to bipolar disorder. So, rather than drop your jaw, drop your handbag, and get your friend some serious help seriously.

Treatment of Manic Depression (Bipolar Disorder)

There is psychotherapy available to treat Manic depression (Bipolar Disorder). They are usually aimed at treating core symptoms, reducing negative expressed emotions in relationships and recognizing prodromal symptoms before full blown recurrence. The types of treatment with the largest efficacy range is cognitive behavioral therapy, family-focused therapy and psychoeducation. For most individuals with bipolar disorder a good prognosis comes from good treatment, which comes from an accurate diagnosis. Bipolar disorder can be a severely disabling medical condition, but many people can live full lives. A naturalistic study from first admission for mania or mixed episode (representing the hospitalized and therefore most severe cases) found that 50% achieved syndromal recovery (no longer meeting criteria for the diagnosis) within six weeks and 98% within two years. 72% achieved symptomatic recovery (no symptoms at all) and 43% achieved functional recovery (regaining of prior occupational and residential status). However, 40% went on to experience a new episode of mania or depression within 2 years of syndromal recovery, and 19% switched phases without recovery. The following behaviors can lead to depressive or manic recurrence:

Mood Disorder – Bipolar Depression

Your disorder is due to the wild psychic sphere invading into your human conscience when you have sudden changes of your disposition or mood.

You require the guidance of the wise unconscious that creates dreams so that you’ll learn how to control your behaviour and prevent the violent and evil content of the anti-conscience, the side of your conscience that is totally wild, from invading the human side of your conscience that can control your behaviour.

When this invasion into the conscience happens, it manifests as your loss of control of your behaviour. The anti-conscience wishes to completely destroy your conscience, so that it may control your behaviour completely and transform you into a crazy and violent creature. Therefore, when this poisonous content invades your human conscience, you start feeling annoyed, irritated and nothing can satisfy you. This is why your mood suddenly changes and you feel desperate, you lose your courage, become too nervous and nothing can give you the peace you need.

At other times, the same invasion has completely different characteristics. It will make you laugh and feel ecstatic without reason. You become too enthusiastic, believing in the manic fantasies that the wild anti-conscience sends you in order to dominate you. It doesn’t have scruples: it is only evil. Hence, it uses everything it can to dominate and elude your human conscience.

By interpreting your dreams, you’ll learn how to fight the domination of the anti-conscience as well as develop your psychic sphere to its fullest potential, becoming more intelligent.

In the past, scientific dream interpretation was difficult and quite incomprehensible for the majority. Only the privileged with the required patience and persistence could be benefited by the dream messages.

However, since I continued the research made by Carl Jung, now you can easily interpret your dreams with safety and guaranteed results if you follow the guidance you receive.

I saw the content of the psychic sphere and could answer many of the questions that Jung couldn’t answer, simplifying his complicated method and giving you directly the translation of the most important dream symbols, without all the tiresome explanations of how this meaning was discovered, like Jung does in his books, and without the several obscure parts he omits.

In my work everything is known, clear and well defined, which will not only save you many efforts and time but it will also give you the exact guidance you need, without doubts, confusions and delay.

Of course, Jung’s work could not be clear, since he was the first one to discover the possibility of psychotherapy through dream interpretation, which is in fact a surgical operation within the psychic sphere. He was a pioneer and he was very afraid of craziness.

With my work as an extension of Jung’s work, you will see exactly what causes mood disorders (bipolar depression), depression, craziness, suicidal thoughts, fainting, hallucinations, etc., and exactly how you can protect and cure your psychic sphere with the guidance of the messages you receive in your dreams. I found Jung’s work ready and I only had to complete it through the end, following my own discoveries, which fit perfectly with several discoveries made in several different scientific fields that prove exactly the same truths.

Prevent Depression and Craziness through the scientific method of Dream Interpretation discovered by Carl Jung and simplified by Christina Sponias, a writer who continued Jung’s research in the unknown region of the human psychic sphere.

Manic Depression Bipolar Disorder – Interesting and Helpful Facts About the Manic Signs

I looked up mania in the dictionary and I didn’t like what I saw. You can look it up too when you have the chance – it’s right after madness and just before stupidity. Specifically, one dictionary I looked at referred to it as “A mood disorder; an affective disorder in which the victim tends to respond excessively and sometimes violently”.

It is easy to read about bipolar disorder and learn how it is called the manic-depressive illness that levers you between phases of mania and depression at all kinds of indeterminate intervals. Sometimes you get the chance to function normally in between; sometimes you don’t. However, I don’t know if you have ever actually met someone in that condition before – someone who was actually being manic or depressive at a time when you were speaking with them. It is not a pleasant experience, I tell you. I’d like us to look at the mania for a moment.

Mania is obsession, and excessive and intense interest in someone or something, some kind of enthusiasm. But that is putting it mildly. Mania in the psychotic form is actually a psychiatric disorder characterized by excessive physical activity, rapidly changing ideas, and impulsive behavior. I’ll help you understand: when you are manic, you are excited and enthusiastic, but you are never able to touch down on any one interest for any reasonable length of time.

Also, mania is an abnormal mental state that is characterized by an elevated irritable mood that is touched by self-importance, racing thoughts and hyperactivity. Did I mention a feeling of intoxication with you and with life? Or, are you manipulating people, spending money indiscriminately and pursuing sexual adventure to almost no end? And that is only the tip of the iceberg.
