The Natural Cure For Bipolar Disorder

You Can Cure Bipolar Disorder And Reclaim Your Life.

Contrary to what the medical authorities have told us, it is possible to treat and even cure bipolar disorder. Here are three fundamental techniques to help eliminate the symptoms of bipolar disorder.

Technique #1: Learn To Control Your Thinking

Although you might be taking medication to deal with your bipolar disorder right now, I promise you that ‘bipolar self-help’ is absolutely essential if you want to achieve freedom from your illness. Antidepressants and psychiatric care or therapy have their place, but currently there is not nearly enough emphasis being placed on the power of practicing self-help for those who want to overcome bipolar.

The most essential element of exercising self help and eventually being able to cure bipolar disorder is becoming acutely conscious of your thinking. The worst episodes always begin with small, seemingly harmless thoughts. Small thoughts in turn grow into something increasingly irrational, and soon another explosive episode is born.

Learning to control and master your thinking is an intensive process that requires tremendous self discipline and deep awareness of your personal tendencies. If you want to take the first step towards finally having the power to tame your own mind I suggest you seek the help of an alternative approach. Many people have been able to cure bipolar disorder, but it has not happened using conventional medicine. Achieving freedom from bipolar disorder is possible once you find the key for making these fundamental changes in your mood patterns and thinking.

Technique #2: Commit To Beneficial Outcomes

Perhaps the biggest tragedy of being afflicted by bipolar disorder is the frequent inability to create healthy situations and prevent destructive ones. On the contrary, when in the midst of struggling against their disease, those afflicted often bring about horrific pain, tumult, and heartache. In essence, technique #2 is simply an extension of the first technique; if you are able to exert control over the small thoughts that initially lead to irrational and poisonous emotions, you will be in a better position to commit to beneficial, healthy outcomes. Therefore it is necessary to master the thoughts that precede this eventual commitment if you are endeavoring to cure bipolar disorder. When struggling to maintain a healthy mood and rational thinking, you can simply declare within that you have firmly committed to not letting an episode flare up. In fact, you must then become unambiguously dedicated to a beneficial, non-explosive, neutral or even positive outcome.

The underlying thinking here is that you are converting what potentially began as something destructive and toxic, into what has the possibility of being a normal, safe, and advantageous result. When you are able to do this it will act as a powerful affirmation that you are much more than the chemical components of your brain – you are in control of your thinking, your moods, and your life. Believing you have control over yourself is absolutely imperative to positively affecting your reality and effectively thwarting potential episodes.

Technique #3: Use The Perspective Test

When feeling the onset of mania, the opportunity for performing a highly effective self-help test becomes crucially important. The Perspective Test consists of taking a step back from where you currently are emotionally and psychologically and evaluating the antithesis of your feelings. Therefore if you feel angry that your husband didn’t clean the kitchen, imagine what it would be like to feel happy that your husband cleaned the kitchen. Although obviously not the case, and while you may indeed have valid reasons to be angry, the point with this exercise is to create massive contrast – the antithesis or opposite of what you are presently experiencing. For those who are capable of doing this, a fresh understanding of your own perspective is obtainable. It then becomes easier to resist letting the situation control you, and enables you to control your moods and thoughts irrespective of any current external factors. The main point here is that it doesn’t matter if you are vindicated in feeling angry at the messy kitchen (or any other similar situation), you are choosing consciously to refuse to allow external circumstances to dictate the your inner dispositions.

Those who have a spouse or significant other who is ill with bipolar often struggle with their partner’s intense rage, paranoia, jealously and other irrational and exaggerated emotions and thinking. Unfortunately the established medical community has not done enough to help the spouses and family members of those who suffer from bipolar disorder. However, there is alternative information that provides workable solutions and powerful advice for people is such situations.

Conclusion: Help Is Out There

In order to make real progress in your fight to reclaim your life and finally end the suffering of bipolar disorder it is necessary to break away from the established medical community. Although certain medications have been scientifically proven to help with anxiety, there is nothing that a medical doctor can offer you to cure your bipolar disorder. That must come from within, and it is only achievable with focussed and determined self help.

With effort and persistence, you can overcome bipolar. There is most certainly hope for living a normal life free of this illness. However this will not happen until you abandon the false belief that doctors will heal you – for clearly they can not. Sadly, doctors prognosticate a very bleak picture for bipolar patients. According to them, there is no known cure. Yet there are many people who have successfully treated bipolar by developing themselves and this has, in effect, led to being permanent cured.

In your fight to cure bipolar disorder it is imperative that you never lose hope, never give up, and actively seek out the information that provides lasting answers in order to develop a mastery of the self.

In the absence of research and development many medical ailments were earlier treated as incurable mammoths. Bipolar Disorder is one among them.

Earlier the individuals suffering with this kind of disorder was often regarded as a ‘very moody person’ or in extreme cases the family wrote them off saying that they have become insane. Later on the scientists made us realize that this disorder is a – Manic Depression, also known by the name of – Bipolar Disorder.

Though this disease is not new, along with the name many other things regarding this disease are quite new like the help we can lend to such patients. As its effects can be very wide spread and deadly, the treatment is as crucial.

This ailment is too dangerous as its patients can also become suicidal. Here are some important features of this ailment:

1. The bipolar disorder is illustrated by the extreme mood changes that is the person acts manically euphoric and/or extremely depressed. Hence it is also called as the manic-depressive illness.

2. The mood fluctuations in such patients can go to any extremes with in any period of time that is hours, days and/or months.

3. This ailment can take place right from the late teenage stage and continue until death. However, there have also been cases where the ailment started right from the childhood and got delayed up to the adult years.

4. While mood swings happen with all of us now and then, very few actually experience the radical changes that can be characterized as bipolar disorder. In such cases the patients’ day-to-day life and relationships are also significantly affected. Their academics, occupation, interaction with others all happen differently.

In case you want to check if you are afflicted with the unfortunate situation, read through the symptoms & signs of the disease carefully:

Signs & Symptoms in the Depressive Phase

1. Pessimistic – the patient cry for hours together 2. Feeling of hopelessness 3. Low self esteem 4. Diminished libido 5. Progressive decrease in the energy level and the day to day activities 6. Apathetic 7. Anti-social 8. Cognitive difficulties 9. Always anxious and irritable 10. Changes in weight that is unusual weight gain or loss 11. Either oversleeping or insomnia 12. In case you suspect to have any of these symptoms and your abnormal behavior is causing problems in the errands, its time that you must seek professional help in order to lead a normal life again.

While there are numerous tests that are able to differentiate the bipolar patient from the unremarkable sad and/or brisk individuals, as such there is no specific test available to define bipolar patient. The primary reason for this is that the symptoms & signs of bipolar disorder are pretty similar to several other mental aberrations such as substance abuse disorders, ADHD, schizophrenia, or borderline personally disorder.

However, the physicians have drafted a battery of tests that can identify the potential patients of bipolar disorder. The basic tests used by the professionals are as follows:

1. Medical Examinations With this type of examination the doctor is able to assess the patient as to what are his/her probable grounds of mood swings.

2. Oral & Written Psychiatric Questionnaire and/or Evaluations

Well researched and designed by the psychiatrists for years together, these questionnaires often yield very accurate details.

3. Family History

When the bipolar disorder is there a person’s blood relation, he/she is quite a prospective patient of the disease.

4. Medical History

Here the doctor checks on the medications that you have taken in the past as certain medicines can trigger bipolar disorder and the mood swings in the individual.

5. Interviewing the family members

The doctor interviews the family to scratch out each every minute detail of the patient’s behavior. Being the first witness of the changes in the individual, these are a very important excerpt for the doctor to cure the patient of bipolar disorder.

6. Mood Swing Episodes

While all above mentioned test create quite a profound ground for the doctor to understand the ailment of an individual, it becomes rather difficult to cure the person when he/she is not able to understand that they are ill. Hence, it becomes imperative to the doctor to trace the absolute & careful history regarding the patient’s mood swings. As compared to the normal people, the people suffering with such an ailment while in the mania stage can be extremely happy for at least 4 consecutive days at a stretch. They get distracted quite easily, they are very talkative, and have a high flight of ideas.

7. Depression Episodes

The ones who have repetitive episodes of depression are often suspected to have the bipolar disorder. Such patients show a very positive response to the immediate treatment but the episodes remain constant and the frequent relapses make the situation rather worst. By and by, they stop responding to the anti-depressant treatment being given to them.

In case this sort of ailment is diagnosed in its early stage, it can be controlled effectively with a combination of the psychopharmacologic medications & psychotherapy. Besides the treatment, a very strong & constant emotional support from the family & friends is indeed imperative for the patients suffering with bipolar disorder.

Make sure that you choose the apt medical professional and/or real friend in need to help you through the struggle. Help nowadays is also available just a click away on the World Wide Web or the internet. Many institutions now have established their websites for self of such individuals.

Remember, one who is suspected of any mental disorder is considered innocent until & unless he/she is examined & diagnosed by some legitimate doctor.

Stigma and Bipolar Disorder

Not only does someone with Bipolar Disorder have to cope with that, there is another problem that can cause no end of harm. That problem is stigma, which is one of the ugliest words I know. Stigma used to be a mark that was put on someone who was inferior. Now there is no mark used but stigma is still thriving. It is a combination of two other ugly words, ignorance and prejudice.

Ignorance is simply not knowing,a lot of statements are made with absolutely no knowledge of what is going on. Things such as “Oh don’t worry about it, it will go away” or “That person must be crazy, they are not like us normal people”. Anyone that makes such statements just show that they have no idea what is going on.

People tend to fear the unknown and it’s true a lot more is known of physical illnesses. Not knowing about something is hardly a reason to just make up some story about it, which is exactly what a lot of people do. These stories get passed to others and soon the ignorance just grows.

Prejudice is prejudging which is pretty darn scary too. Some prejudice is passed from generation to generation and some is based on ones own beliefs. It can be spread as easily and as fast as ignorance.

So if you take a combination of ignorance and prejudice and come up with stigma you can see it will not be a good thing at all. If it does not sound bad enough to read about, it gets even worse when applied to you or someone you love. What’s really sad is that stigma does not have to come from people you would think are hurtful, a lot of it can come from your own family.

I think it is great that so much has been learned about physical illnesses that was never known before. It would be even better if the same could be done for mental illnesses. A lot of people don’t even realise that bipolar disorder is biological/genetic by nature. It shows itself as a mental illness because emotions and feelings are not physical.

Stigma can only be beat by education and there is more information available now than ever before. I would love to see it beat and even if it does not look promising, I continue to hope.

Ross Charette was diagnosed bipolar disorder II some 23 years ago. Recently reading about stigma made him want to find out more than he already knew. Joining a forum for bipolar disorder and making friends there gave Ross the idea that he wanted to share what he knew with others. That is how this blog came to be http://survivingbipolar.cleverdood.com/

A lot of Ross’ time is spent between the blog and forum, and he is loving it :)

Problems With Bipolar Disorder Diagnosis That Should Be Avoided

Currently, there is no laboratory or medical test that would give a straightforward conclusion that a person is suffering from bipolar disorder. This makes it difficult to determine if the symptoms (associated with bipolar disorder) that are present to him or her are indeed signs of this mental illness. Meanwhile, it is very important to detect whether or not this person really has bipolar disorder to provide the right treatment.

Furthermore, the symptoms that could be clear indications of bipolar disorder can be related to other identifiable physical or psychological illness. This makes it more difficult to give treatment since the focus is to give relief to the existing physical pain; rather than identifying if the patient is suffering from any psychological problem. And to complicate these things even further, a person who shows physical signs of bipolar disorder goes to medical doctors rather than a psychiatrist.

Therefore, bipolar disorder often remains unknown until it is too late to give treatment.

But this does not end here. There are other factors that cause problems in diagnosing bipolar disorder. These are:

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Personality

Obsessive compulsive disorder personality information you’ve located across the internet and various other sources has likely sent you on a search for the best possible information available to you. Congratulations, my friend! You have now located the last article you will ever need in order to answer “Yes!” to a question that has undoubtedly been plaguing your mind for some time now: “Can I get rid of my OCD for the rest of my life?” I know it may have been difficult in the past leading up to this moment, because the information you read may not have been the most accurate. No more worries are to be had about such things, as you will find out for yourself quite soon.

Misinformation unfortunately plays a significant role in the failure rate of individuals who suffer from OCD. Although unpleasant, it is of no great surprise. If the treatment plans being given to you; be it by book or physician are inaccurate, it is very unlikely you shall succeed in pushing your obsessive compulsive disorder personality traits away for good. You need to secure a truthful and satisfactory source of information in order to establish a proper solution fit for your goal. The goal, of course, is to completely rid your mind of any obsessive compulsive thoughts!

Despite what you might have been lead to believe, OCD is not a sickness, or a mental ailment. In reality, it is just a habit. The difference between this and a typical habit, (Such as waking up at a given time due to routine.) is that obsessive compulsive disorder personality based habits are noticeably more powerful. They consume more mental focus, are not always easily pushed aside, and are generally a root cause of anxiety and other unpleasant feelings and/or thoughts.

As previously noted, this should be your last stop for information! Whether or not you decide to accept the help I offer you, I strongly recommend that you partake in one form of treatment at any given time. It is very important that your mind focus on one “path through the obsessive compulsive disorder personality forest”, or else you may lose your way and not reach your goal. Trying many different kinds of treatment without completing them individually is a detriment to your success rate, and an aid to the power that OCD has over your mind.

I would once again like to congratulate you on locating this article! No more frantic searches, no more wracking your brain trying to find the answers. I can help you take control of your obsessive compulsive personality and push it from your mind, should you choose to accept this help. Remember that misinformation can be a dangerous thing in regards to curing your mind. Learning to separate fact from common belief is a very helpful ability. Unlike diseases, OCD does not require medication. You will not need to constantly undergo expensive visits to the hospital either, because it is a strong habit. Lastly, regardless of your decision to accept the solutions I have available to you or not, for the sake of your own well-being, please do not try and use multiple forms of help at a time. The rate of success while doing such a thing is considerably lower than focusing on one goal at a time.

Please enjoy the solutions I have for beating OCD below!

Latest Bipolar Disorder Facts Revealed By Medical Science

Bipolar affective disorder is also referred to as manic-depression disorder, which is a form of a mental illness wherein the patient displays sudden and intense mood swings that are uncontrollable and can be dangerous for the individual as well as those around him/her. It can begin with the patient feeling happy, cause the person to feel utterly depressed the next moment and swing back to a cheerful mood within minutes; it can also stay for months in a mood cycling motion of manic-depressive or mixed episodes.

Timely diagnosis and clinical therapy is very important to educate patient and family besides any bigger support group around the individual about the condition, the ways in which it can manifest itself, the danger to the person and how best to control and treat it.

Best treatment options for bipolar affective disorder include regular therapy, combined with medication and teaching the patient more about the disorder and tools that are effective in controlling it, including reading a handbook on the subject and learning how to use a workbook on bipolar disorder.

Among the latest in the line of many new medications to treat bipolar affective disorder are Aripiprazole or Abilify, atypical anti-psychotic that has been approved for treatment of manic and mixed bipolar disorder episodes since 2004, which benefits the patient by shutting down the brain’s dopamine receptors so they behave more normally and thus, result in mood stabilization and the popular, Celexa. The latter is mainly an antidepressant that has been used by medical experts for a long time but witnessed more beneficial value over the last few years when treating patients with bipolar affective disorder.

Other effective and latest medication in the market for treating bipolar disorder includes Geodon, also an anti-psychotic that is a mood stabilizer with no fear of weight gain, working much like Zyprexa that has a few minor side effects of which weight gain is fortunately, not one; Wellbutrin, (may also be packaged as Zyban) are other helpful medication used initially as an anti-smoking drug but which has shown marked benefit for bipolar patients. To its advantage is the fact that patients using Wellbutrin can effectively manage weight as it neither induces weigh gain or loss!

Even though bipolar disorder cannot be cured completely, with timely diagnosis, proper counseling and the benefit of new-age medicines, much of the mental health of the patient can be improved as research is constantly being conducted to improve and upgrade the benefits of each drug proven effective in controlling bipolar affective disorder – so do consult a doctor and the psychiatrist before undertaking any sort of medication for bipolar disorder treatment.
